This store sells sick animals and are completely overpriced!! I recently adopted two rats from this pet store and the only reason why I did was to rescue them from the horrendous conditions they were living in otherwise I would have never given Pet World my business.
They were living in the tiniest little transport container with absolutely no enrichment or hiding house. They barely had enough room to walk around. We went everyday for 5 days to see if they had been moved somewhere more size appropriate but they had not so I bought them to relieve them of their stress. They were overcrowding their store just to make more money without the animals well being in mind. They were noticeably depressed and they were sick with respiratory infections. They were also living on pine wood shavings which is toxic for rats respiratory systems. When we asked a store associate why they were using pine wood shavings for rats bedding she replied "Our boss put them in there" so obviously the owner or manager doesn't care about the health or well being of the animals they have. As you can see from the photos, they were in a tiny container which was inside a larger enclosure. The reason why they weren't in the larger enclosure was because it had mice in it. This was incredibly stressful for both the rats and mice because the two species don't get along together.
The store associate also told me they were both male but 2 days later, to our surprise, we discovered that one was actually a female and pregnant. I have also had to take them to the vet for horrible respiratory infections which they are currently on medication for and might possibly have to be on medication for the rest of their lives.
Don't EVER buy from Pet World, they couldn't care less about the animals that they are selling and only care about money. The owner and manager are HORRIBLE people. Pet World you should be ashamed!
this place is horrible, some of the birds are kept alone in a tiny cage without any mental activities and stimulation, one of the bird kept jumping side to side because he was bored & scared. The bunnies were scared to death they don’t have any place to hide they hide on eachother it was so sad. The bettas are kept in water cups. Atleast put them in glass. This place needs to be checked… don’t recommend it makes me sad animals being treated that way.
If you want to be refreshed on the cruelness of humanity, go to Pet World. Terrible conditions for all the animals, and looking at these conures you can see evidence of their mistreatment. The turquoise GCC has stress bars and ragged feathers (circled), probably because of the seed diet they feed all the birds. This crimson bellied conure has a torn and destroyed tail. (And of course, all of the birds have had their wings mutilated.)
I don’t know what’s sadder, the fact that this store is open or the fact that the city refuses to shut it down.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE!
Visited on a number of occasions, got a hamster for my eldest son as an early Christmas present in 2022 and he died after being with us just over 2 months. Poor guy had star gazing syndrome which is caused by poor habitat and inbreeding.
Second I went in just this last week to find a crested gecko housed in a habitat that is Polar opposite to its requirements. The habitat was set up for a leopard gecko for reference As a seasoned reptile owner, I was very angered by this and disheartened for the animals they trade as this is straight up cruelty and a total disgrace that needs to be dealt with.
For reference, the stores "crested gecko" enclosure with the disgusting price tag, against what a crested gecko enclosure SHOULD look like.
I know this will probably fall on deaf ears. But please DO NOT support this store

As always, I'm skeptical going into petstores. This one did not change my mind. Inside I found two rabbits housed with a single guinea pig, which is dangerous. Not only could a startled rabbit kick out and severely harm a guinea pig's fragile spine, but rabbits carry a bacteria called Bordetella bronchiseptica, which can cause upper respiratory tract infections in guinea pigs, which can be fatal. After politely expressing my concerns and explaining the potential dangers, the young lady working there became smug and rude, and the older gentleman (possibly the owner) kindly but pointedly dismissed everything I said, claiming that in the 40 years they've been doing this no such incident has ever occured. When I mentioned that it still could happen I was again dismissed. If they cared about their animals so much they would research and do what's best for their animals.

Hidden gem in the bayshore mall. Such a cute shop with pets like bunnies, hamsters and goldfish. They have variety of birds like parrots and sparrows which you can buy and provide them a beautiful home. They also have all kinds of food and toys for your lovely pets.
Many people like to mistreat beta fish. They think that just because they can survive in a small area means that they’re fine but it’s like if I locked a human in a tiny closet, sure they would live, but they wouldn’t have a good quality of life in most stores they’re in tiny little fish bowls, but this is taking it to a whole new level, the fact that they would put Fish in plastic cups is ridiculous. Five minutes of research shows that they need filters and heating systems and 5 gallon tanks they deserves to be shut down
