I am extremely disappointed with Petcetra after being sold expired bird food.
I purchased a bag of bird seed for my 3-month-old bird and didn’t realize it was expired until after I had already fed her. While reading the back of the bag later, I noticed the expiration date was in 2025. As pet owners, we trust pet stores to carefully monitor the food they sell, especially for vulnerable animals.
I called the store and was told I could come in for an exchange. When I arrived, I noticed another bag of the exact same product on the shelf with an expiration date in 2026. That made me wonder how long my bag had been sitting there before expiring. There was only one extra bag there but the expiry was soon too.
What made the experience worse was the owner refusing to refund my money. I even asked for store credit, thinking I would at least receive a gift card or credit to use later, but instead I was told I had to pick another item of the same value right then and there before leaving the store. I felt forced into buying something else rather than being properly compensated for being sold expired pet food.
The owner’s son was polite and tried to help, but after speaking with his father, it became clear the focus was more on money than customer care.
I ended up going to Bosley’s instead, where I felt much more comfortable buying pet food from a reputable store that stands behind its products and customer satisfaction.
Since eating the expired seed, my bird has been experiencing digestive upset and I will be taking this matter further with corporate. Pet parents, please double-check expiration dates before purchasing from this store.
This is completely unacceptable.
I'm so glad I stopped in at Petcetera when my dog was a puppy (my dog is 10 years old now). Dan was able to help me with any issues I've had over the years with my dog. Being a 1st time pet owner, it was nice to have someone to answer my questions and concerns. I can't say enough about Dan, the owner and his son. They are very kind and knowledgeable and always provide the best deals. Dan runs a great pet shop, way better than the big box stores!

Amazing service at the Guildford Petcetera! Huge thank you to Gwen and Dan — they were incredibly helpful, patient, and knowledgeable. Even though it was closing time, they didn’t rush us at all and stayed late to make sure we found everything we needed. That level of dedication and customer care is rare to see. Truly went above and beyond. Highly recommend this location because of them!
I had my sweet little girl at two vets and still she was itching and scratching. Talked to someone there and for about 10 minutes next thing I know he wants to see my girl. He actually takes her to the back cleans her ears,( the had already done it) but he wanted to see his self then looks at her paws and under belly and knew exactly what she needed. So I bought the food did everything he said and and oh yeah with in a few days she has stopped scratching and itching. Best of allshe actually eats the food when I put it down not leaving till 3 am when she is starving. Thank you so much to these people for getting my baby girl healthy.
Loving the new location entrance from Walmart parking lot so convenient. Dan and all associates are so knowledgeable and have helped a great deal with my pups nutritional needs , I’ve learned so much about what is in my dogs foods and how to treat the occasional ailments. 5 ⭐️
