Unacceptable Negligence and Denial of Injuries
I am heartbroken and outraged. I left my puppy here for grooming and picked him up with TWO wounds that were deep enough the vet suggested stitches for both. And now my puppy is on antibiotics, suffering and crying all night.
While the groomer admitted to causing the wound on my puppy’s elbow, they are shockingly denying responsibility for a serious wound on his stomach. This is completely illogical—no owner would bring their pet to be groomed if they already had a wound requiring stitches. I know my puppy, and he was perfectly healthy when I dropped him off. If the stomach wound were pre-existing, any professional groomer would have noticed it immediately upon starting and called me before proceeding with the bath or cut. The fact that they didn't report a wound to me at drop-off is proof it happened while he was in their hands.
The owner promised to call me back to discuss this, but it has been over 24 hours of silence. Admitting to one injury while denying the other is a clear attempt to avoid accountability for the severity of what happened under their care. Please, protect your pets and stay away from this place.
I don't expect any justice but I will definitely never go to this place for day care or grooming or anything to keep my puppy safe.

My dog and I love this place! Staff are wonderful and accommodating, and my dog always howls in excitement as we turn into the parking lot! 😂
They are great with all types and sizes of dogs, and it’s nice to see the photos on Instagram through the day. My dog is always tired out from playing all day when he comes home, and they have a great store too with hypo allergenic treats available after a long day of playing!
10/10 for sure!

If you care for your pet, avoid this business.
I brought my dog here to get her nails trimmed. I was met inside, I handed my dog over and she was brought into the back room with NO CONVERSATION, other then getting her name, which I heard yelled in the back room(to soothe her???).
The workers were repeatedly yelling at dogs and the whole place was chaotic, i get it, its a dog day care. I’ve worked in one before, in my youth and it was very much not like this. I looked through the window and all the dogs I saw were wide eyed, whites showing or getting dragged around by staff. My dog was on the ground in the middle of the room surrounded by dogs she never met with staff trying to trim her nails. I am regretting letting her stay in the room any longer than I did, and letting them finish the job.
When confronted about the inappropriate way the visit went with the staff, they defended their actions, saying, “all the dogs are ok with it”. Ironic considering I didn’t spot a comfortable animal on site.
11/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND
I’m so glad that they’ve replied to my review. They further showed their inability to run a respectful company, lying about events and taking zero accountability for mistakes made.

My dog absolutely loves this place! She walks(she actually sprints) inside with a smile every Tuesday when we bring her. She comes home tired from playing the whole day. The workers are extremely nice and understanding. They even remember her name and check her in without me even saying anything. I would like to be able to know where she is, and what the inside looks like. And sometimes my dog comes back smelling like lick and pee but really other than that I would recommend. Best 50 dollars ever spent. Photos of my dog being tired from daycare below :)

I am outraged by the Urban Puppy Shop and the way they treat the dogs in their care. A gentle, senior pitbull named Chivan was brutally attacked while at their daycare—and the staff did nothing to prevent it or stop it in time. They waited THREE HOURS to tell the owner, leaving a seriously injured dog without medical attention. Chivan required surgery because of their complete negligence.
Instead of owning up to their failures, owner Phillip Rooyakkers refuses responsibility and even sues people who speak out about his incompetence. This is not just unprofessional—it’s dangerous, cruel, and unconscionable.
If you value your dog’s safety, do not under any circumstances leave your pet here. Urban Puppy Shop is reckless, heartless, and a disgrace to anyone who cares about animal welfare. Avoid at all costs.

Left my dog from 5pm to 8 am - he reeked like urine so bad I had to bathe him right away. You could tell he was depressed and did not have a good experience. They don’t have someone with your dogs overnight and only use cameras. I assumed the service would be better than this. I would not recommend overnight care for your dog.
Had one situation where my dog came home with a trauma to his eye, another where his food was given to another dog and he didn’t eat all day. he also got kennel cough another time even though he had his vaccine. This place does not ask for up to date vaccination records or even ask at all.
Never allowed inside to see the conditions. Glass Door reviews from previous employees confirm the experiences I have had. Also owners replies to the reviews are unprofessional.
I was going to bring my 7 month old puppy here over the weekend as her brother had a booked appointment. I was shocked and appalled to hear from her brother’s owners that Joey and Nala were not welcome because they were mastiffs, which this daycare considers a “fighting breed”. Anyone who knows anything about dogs should know that Mastiffs are gentle, non aggressive dogs with lovely temperaments. Furthermore, discriminating against dogs based off of breed is appalling for any dog affiliated shelter to do as there is A LOT of research that says it comes down to how the owners raise them. I will never bring a dog here and would recommend that everyone else does the same.
Ps: these dogs look like they’re vicious right? Give me a break...
